Sometimes a fully integrated platform is not ideal

Integrated platforms sacrifice flexibility because of the self-contained, fixed component design. Integrated platforms, by design, must seamlessly integrate sample prep, liquid handling, temperature control, detection, and reporting in to a sample in-answer out, small footprint, configuration. The imposed design constraints put limits on clinical sample size, sample type, multiplexing capacity, biochemical analyte (i.e. genetic testing only), sample throughput, and lab workflow (i.e. all sample handling happens in a single space). It is hard to put a one size fits all into a fully integrated device. What if the intended use dictates metabolite testing of 3mL of blood or immunoassay testing of 5mL of urine or genetic testing of 10mL of liquefied stool sample?

Suddenly sample size, analyte type, sample prep and thermal control become variables which do not conform to a constrictive integrated device. What if the user requirements dictate that sample prep happens in a room separate from detection or if the user requires flexibility to process 1 sample at a time or to batch 32 at a time? Once again, the constrained integrated device cannot adjust to those parameters.

By semi-automating highly complex laboratory processes, tests performed on the TruArray platform perform multiplexed analysis of clinical samples and deliver results in 15 minutes for immunoassays, and 1-3 hours for genetic assays, depending on the intended use.

The TruDx2000 System platform provides a near point-of-care molecular diagnostics (MDx) testing platform solution that represents a shift in the detection and analysis of both nucleic acid and protein molecular disease indicators. The TruDx2000 system combines sample preparation with nucleic acid amplification and detection functions, producing accurate results in a timely manner with reduced risk of contamination. This same system is also capable of performing protein/immunological array analyses. The TruDx2000 system is designed to purify, concentrate, detect and identify targeted molecules, thereby delivering answers directly from unprocessed samples.
